Neemesh Chheda, CIPP/E is an Associate with Mullen Coughlin, counseling organizations across all industry group sectors with pre-incident Advisory Compliance services. Using his background in technology and experience in developing comprehensive privacy programs for Fortune 500 companies, Neemesh is uniquely situated to advise organizations of all sizes on their privacy risk management strategies, policies and procedures in order drive legal and regulatory compliance and prepare for a data privacy and security incident.

Neemesh has experience with current various data privacy and information security laws and keeps abreast of the future and emerging privacy laws and regulations, such as comprehensive state privacy laws and industry-specific privacy regulations. While in-house at various Fortune 500 organizations, he gained an extensive understanding on the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA), the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). He uses this knowledge to assist his clients in complying with, and understanding the legal risks associated with, these and other relevant laws and regulations.

Neemesh also has technical experience, in which he uses when counseling organizations in network and information security. As a Legal Liaison at Parley Pro – a cloud-based contract management software company – he led organization efforts to obtain SOC-2 Type 1 certification, working closely with the company’s DevOps engineers and other relevant stakeholders.

Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Neemesh worked at Meta (f/k/a Facebook) as a Privacy Program Manager. There, he led privacy reviews on global projects to identify potential privacy and security risks and advise business stakeholders on said risk and devise risk mitigation plans to drive privacy compliance. He has also held other privacy-related positions with OneTrust, DocJuris and The Coca-Cola Company.

Neemesh received his juris doctor from the Emory University School of Law and is also certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as a Certified Information Privacy Professional – Europe (CIPP/E). Prior to law school, Neemesh worked for Fortune 500 companies in various information technology roles, experience he brings with him when advising his clients on their information security and data protection.
