Cyber Event Tabletop Exercise

Partner Carolyn Purwin Ryan joins the faculty of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance’s (CLM) 2022 Claims College, teaching in the School of Cyber Claims on September 9, 2022 in Baltimore, MD.

As an instructor for the course entitled โ€œCyber Event Tabletop Exercise,โ€ Carolyn and co-instructor Kirsten Mickelson, Claims Attorney at Coalition, provide an opportunity for โ€œLevel 2โ€ Claims College students to practically apply the information they have been learning throughout the School of Cyber Claims curriculum through a cyber loss tabletop exercise. This hands-on course, which simulates a real life data privacy and security incident, allows students to immerse themselves in the various issues that arise during the lifecycle of a data privacy and security incident, and how to successfully apply their knowledge to the scenario as it develops. This includes how to appropriately react after the discovery of an incident; an introduction to the various roles and responsibilities of the incident response team, including third-party vendors; assisting in understanding the competing concerns and issues that arise during the response; and teaching on the implications of each action taken during the incident response. Related cyber insurance issues, as well as third-party claims, is also taught.

The School of Cyber Claims at CLMโ€™s Claims College provides participants with technical and practical knowledge to proactively and effectively manage claims arising under traditional insurance policies and stand-alone cyber insurance policies. Students also gain a comprehensive understanding of privacy and data protection principles, regulations and laws, and learn cutting-edge strategies to resolve cyber claims. After a successful completion of all three levels of the School of Cyber Claims, graduates earn a Certified Claims Professional in Cyber Claims designation from CLM.
