Kevin M. Krauss, an Associate in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice group, is a seasoned attorney with nearly a decade of legal experience in a variety of roles. At Mullen Coughlin, Kevin coordinates and leads responses and investigations into data privacy and security incidents, such as inadvertent disclosures, ransomware attacks, third-party breaches and business email compromises (BECs). As a victim organization’s Breach Coach, Kevin quarterbacks various internal and external incident response stakeholders to first asses the incident and determine what, if any, sensitive data has been compromised, and then works to identify the legal, regulatory, industry or contractual obligations stemming from the incident. This includes law enforcement and regulatory agency reporting, as well as individual and third-party business partner notification. Additionally, if necessary, Kevin coordinates responses to formal state, federal and industry-related regulatory investigations and inquiries.

Before joining Mullen Coughlin, Kevin spent five (5) years as a civil litigator at a boutique litigation firm, after four (4) previous years as a solo/small firm practitioner. His civil litigation practice consisted of defending hundreds of insured and self-insured entities against a variety of tort allegations such as personal injury and property damage, as well as with other negligence, insurance defense and real estate disputes, in both state and federal courts and on appeal.

Kevin received his J.D. from Widener University Delaware Law School, where he received the pro bono distinction. He was also President of the International Law Society, Student-President of the International Law Students Association (ILSA) and spent a semester abroad at the University of Nairobi Law School.

Kevin has always enjoyed giving back to his community through various volunteer activities. As a lawyer, he has assisted veterans and first responders with drafting wills with the Pennsylvania Wills for Heroes program. He has also volunteered with multiple election campaigns and voting integrity programs, most recently serving as a trained Legal Observer and Poll Watcher with the PA Victory Counsel Voter Protection Team during the 2016 general election.
