Morgan Valeo is an Associate in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice group. She is a Breach Coach for organizations who have been victimized by a data privacy and security incident, such as a business email compromise (BEC), ransomware attack, wire transfer fraud or another network intrusion. She routinely works with external and third-party forensic investigation firms to first determine the nature and scope of the incident and then to identify the legal, regulatory and contractual obligations the victim organization has stemming from the incident. She also coordinates with law enforcement, cyber insurance and other insurance carriers/brokers, ransom negotiation/payment firms and business partners to effectuate a legally-compliant response to the investigation, while also minimizing operational, reputational and financial harm to the victim organization.

Morgan joined Mullen Coughlin from a full-service law firm where she practiced in the litigation department. As part of her litigation practice, Morgan reviewed and analyzed insurance policies, service contracts and business agreements. She also collaborated with state government agencies to assess legal risks and created compliance training programs for public entities.

Morgan received her Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and while a J.D. candidate, was an intern for the Hon. Michael C. Gaus of the Superior Court of New Jersey and for the Seton Hall University Athletics Department’s Compliance Office.
