Patrick J. Mahoney is an Associate with Mullen Coughlin, practicing primarily in the Incident Response practice area. As a Breach Coach for organizations who have been a victim of a data privacy and security incident โ€“ such as a ransomware attack, business email compromise (BEC) or other type of network intrusion โ€“ Patrick leads the response and investigation into the incident in collaboration with other third-party incident response stakeholders. He works diligently to assist with the mitigation of the cyber incident, and after confirmation that the incident is contained, he counsels the organization on its legal, regulatory or contractual obligations stemming from the incident. This includes with individual, regulatory and business partner notification and law enforcement reporting. Patrick also represents organizations in both informal and formal regulatory investigations and follow-ups related to data privacy and security incidents.

Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Patrick was a director with a commercial real estate services firm advising global corporations on lease administration and accounting compliance. He worked with internal auditors, legal departments and real estate teams to maintain and utilize large volumes of lease contract data for financial reporting and business decision making.

Prior to that, he practiced at several Philadelphia-based law firms, defending clients in toxic tort and general liability litigation.

Patrick also gained valuable experience working in the claims department of a global insurance carrier, specifically in its Primary Casualty group.

Patrick received his J.D. from Widener University Delaware Law School and his B.A. from Catholic University of America. While attending college in Washington, D.C., he was a student clerk in the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), assisting the litigation office with handling consumer fraud matters.

He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.
