Practice Areas

Richard Aponte-Boyd, a Partner at Mullen Coughlin, focuses his practice on data privacy and security incident response. Working with organizations across all industry group sectors and experience in handling hundreds of data privacy and security incidents, Rich guides victim organizations through all aspects of the incident response process including the discovery and containment of the incident; the third-party forensic investigation; the identification of any legal, regulatory or contractual duties; and the compliance of such duties and obligations. He also responds to any resulting regulatory inquiries and follow up that may arise from the incident.

Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Rich spent the first 18 years of his legal career with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office, first as a paralegal while in law school and culminating with his appointment as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) in 2005. As an ADA, he developed strong litigation experience, trying approximately 40 jury trials. In addition, he was a supervisor in various areas of the office including the Juvenile Court; the Charging Unit; the Trial Division; and the Pre-Trial Division. In his capacity as a supervisor with these units and divisions, he participated in system-wide implementation of policies and procedures related to new data management systems.

Rich also was an Adjunct Professor for Experiential Learning at Temple University Beasley School of Law, and a supervisor for the Drexel University School of Law’s student co-op program.
