Ryan Halpin is an Associate at Mullen Coughlin and serves as a Breach Coach for organizations who are currently experiencing, or have experienced, a data privacy and security incident. In this role, Ryan leads the response and investigation into the incident, working hand-in-hand with other incident response stakeholders to first detect the nature and scope of the incident, and then to identify the legal and regulatory obligations that will guide the victim organization’s response and notification to affected individuals and business partners, as well as with law enforcement and regulatory agencies. He also assists in the procurement and coordination of post-incident services such as public relations and communications, notice mailing and credit/identity monitoring.

Ryan previously practiced securities law, working directly with public companies in their interactions with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). During that time, he assisted in the preparation of various SEC filings, including S-1, 10-K and 10-Q forms.

Prior to that, Ryan gained valuable data privacy experience as a Legal Intern with the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC). There, he ensured that all existing and pending contracts included provisions related to third-party risk and data privacy. Ryan also helped the company implement business practices that are consistent with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
