Sam Bonsall, an Associate, practices in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice group and is a Breach Coach for organizations who have experienced a data privacy and security incident. As he leads investigations into various data privacy and security incidents, alongside third-party incident response partners and law enforcement, Sam counsels his clients on their legal, regulatory and contractual obligations that stem from the incident. This includes law enforcement and regulatory agency reporting, as well as individual and business partner notification. He also assists in the response to formal and informal follow-up inquiries from state Attorneys General and other state, federal and industry-specific regulatory agencies.

After receiving his J.D. from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, Sam became an Assistant District Attorney for the Chester County District Attorney’s Office’s Child Abuse Unit and Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce where he prosecuted and investigated cases involving the sexual and physical abuse of children, as well as the online exploitation of children and Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Sam is also a U.S. Veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 2010-2015 as a Combat Engineer. In 2012, Sam deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During his service, he held numerous leadership roles and served as a subject-matter-expert in Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Operations and Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicle Operations.
