Vikas “Vik” Bowry is an Associate at Mullen Coughlin, practicing primarily in the Firm’s Incident Response practice group. Serving as a Breach Coach for organizations who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, a data privacy and security incident, such as ransomware, third-party breaches, business email compromises or inadvertent disclosures, among other types of incidents.

Leading the investigation into the incident, Vik works closely with the various incident response stakeholders to first determine the nature and scope of the incident and then to ensure that the incident is not ongoing. After the incident is contained, Vik advises victim organizations on their reporting obligations related to state, federal, international or industry-related laws and regulations, as well as any contracts with external parties. He also liaises with law enforcement at all levels during his investigation and response into data privacy and security incidents, providing valuable information that is used to stop current threat actors and prevent further attacks, as well as assist his victim organization clients.

Vik also represents organizations who have been the subject of regulatory investigation stemming from a data privacy and security incident, including investigations led by state Attorney Generals, state departments of health, insurance and financial services and federal regulatory bodies.

Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Vik practiced as a civil litigator and focused his practice on defending organizations in general litigation matters, including transportation, products liability, premises liability and negligent security. He also has experience in handling special investigations on behalf of insurance entities.

Before his private practice, Vik was an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Philadelphia’s Law Department’s Child Welfare Unit. He also was a judicial law clerk in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas.

While in law school, Vik was a member of the South Asian Law Students Association and the Widener Law rugby team. He received his J.D. with the pro bono distinction.
