Alvin Barskiy is an associate attorney in Mullen Coughlinโs Incident Response practice area. With previous incident response experience, Alvin is responsible for assisting organizations of all sizes and across all industry sectors in responding to, and investigating, data privacy and security incidents of all types. With an understanding of the various data privacy and information security laws and regulations that relate to data breaches and other cybersecurity incidents, he is able to effectively guide his clients through legal and regulatory requirements stemming from data privacy and security incidents, including individual notification and law enforcement/regulator reporting. He also assists in provisioning credit/identity monitoring for affected individuals, drafting internal and external communications about the incident and responding to regulatory follow-up questions and investigations into the incident.
Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Alvin was an associate attorney at a full-service law firm in their Cybersecurity, Data Privacy and Incident Response practice area. There, he assisted in cybersecurity breach responses, working closely and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as DFIR firms, cyber insurance carriers and brokers, law enforcement, public relations firms and credit/identity monitoring providers.
Additionally, his work with commercial real estate companies in particular, and their contract provisions, provides him with a unique insight into the various types of data privacy and security incidents and relevant laws and regulations that impact the industry.
Before private practice, Alvin was a law clerk for the Honorable Robert M. Hanna of the NJ Superior Court.
He received his J.D. from Rutgers Law School and is fluent in Russian.
