Practice Areas

Brittany Bickel is a Partner at Mullen Coughlin. She focuses her practice on guiding organizations through all aspects of incident response including minimizing business disruption; determining the nature and scope of the incident; working closely with forensic investigators and law enforcement to confirm incident containment; communicating with key stakeholders; and assessing the potentially impacted parties and compliance with legal duties arising from the incident. She also assists clients with facilitating legally-compliant notices to affected individuals and appropriate regulators, as necessary, and responding to any resulting inquiries.

Birttany is well-versed in counseling organizations in the healthcare and life sciences industry, navigating relevant industry-specific laws and regulations including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). She also has experience in counseling organizations in the professional services, education, government/public entity, and manufacturing and distribution industry sectors.

Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Brittany was an M&A Tax Consultant at a “Big Four” accounting firm where she assisted clients in determining and evaluating the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations, and refinancings.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Represented multiple large data collectors in responding to ransomware incidents that impacted data held on behalf of other entities and facilitated notification to data owners, individuals and regulators
  • Represented managed services providers (MSPs) in responding to ransomware incidents
  • Represented organizations in the professional services industry who experienced business disruption due to ransomware incidents and facilitated communication to their clients regarding business continuity
