Chaiyeon Lee is an Associate practicing in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice group. She serves as Breach Counsel for organizations experiencing a data privacy and security incident such as a ransomware attack, business email compromise (BEC), or other unauthorized network intrusion. Chaiyeon counsels her clients on their legal and regulatory obligations, including notification and other reporting duties, stemming from the incident, and works to effectuate such notices pursuant to relevant data privacy, protection, and security laws and regulations. She routinely works closely with organizations’ cyber insurance carriers and brokers, law enforcement, and other internal and external incident response stakeholders throughout the course of an incident response investigation.
Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Chaiyeon was an associate attorney at an insurance defense law firm where she represented insurers in complex first-party coverage and extracontractual disputes. She also previously interned for Arcadia University’s Office of General Counsel conducting research related to federal web accessibility regulations and artificial intelligence in higher education, and reviewing and revising contracts on behalf of healthcare university affiliates.
Chaiyeon received her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and a B.A. from Wesleyan University. While a J.D. student, she served as the Co-President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, was an event coordinator for the Women’s Law Caucus, and a student senator for the Student Bar Association.
Chaiyeon is proficient in Korean.
