Devan Deck is an Associate in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice. As Breach Counsel, he leads the response and investigation into various data privacy and security incidents such as business email compromises (BECs), ransomware attacks and other unauthorized network intrusions. He counsels his clients on their legal and regulatory obligations, including with applicable reporting duties, internal and external communications, provision of post-incident credit and/or identity monitoring and regulatory agency follow-up or investigation. Throughout the full lifecycle of the incident response, Devon communicates as necessary with cyber insurance claims teams, digital forensic investigators, other external legal counsel and others who have a stake in the incident response.

Immediately prior to joining the Incident Response practice, Devan was a Law Clerk in the Litigation department with the Firm. As a Law Clerk, he worked closely with Partners assisting them in a variety of areas including drafting communications, legal research and special client and firm projects.

Prior to that, Devan had a variety of legal intern and similar roles with a civil litigation law firm, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Federal Community Defender Office, the Pennsylvania Innocence Project and a multinational pharmaceutical corporation.

He received his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania. Devan also holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts from Binghamton University.
