James A. Cope is a Partner at Mullen Coughlin where he focuses his practice on assisting clients with data privacy and security incident response. After a real or suspected incident, such as ransomware, business email compromise (BEC) or inadvertent disclosure, Jimmy assists victim organizations in determining the nature and scope of the incident and counsels them throughout the response. Once the incident is contained and confirmed to be isolated/not still occurring, Jimmy works with his clients to ensure they are complying with legal and regulatory obligations as a result of the incident under applicable state, federal and international laws and regulations. Further, he also assists in the response and defense of organizations against formal regulatory investigations and inquiries.
Prior to joining Mullen Coughlin, Jimmy worked for a large international civil litigation and insurance defense firm where he focused his practice in the areas of professional liability, product liability, construction defect and general liability.
