Jessica Yurick is an Associate in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice. As Breach Counsel for organizations who have suffered a data privacy and security incident such as a business email compromise, ransomware attack or other unauthorized network intrusion, Jessica leads the privileged response and investigation into the incident. She is well-versed in handling complex and quick-moving investigations, and is able to counsel her clients on their legal and regulatory obligations stemming from the incident. This includes determining what, if any, data has been accessed and then identifying the laws and regulations that are relevant to based on the nature and scope of the incident, such as U.S. state comprehensive privacy laws (e.g., the California Privacy Protection Act (CCPA), and its amendment the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA)) and U.S. federal data privacy laws like the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), among others. She also responds, on behalf of her clients, to regulatory agency inquiries and investigations related to data privacy, data protection and cybersecurity.

Before her private practice, Jessica spent her entire legal career in the public sector including most recently with the Chester County (PA) District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney (DDA) for the Drug and Organized Crime Unit. As a DDA, she oversaw all major drug trafficking cases in the County, leading investigative teams of local, state and federal law enforcement, and litigating complex cases from preliminary hearings through trial and sentencing.

Jessica received her J.D. from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and a B.A. magna cum laude from North Carolina State University.
