Landon Holben is an Associate attorney in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice group. As Breach Counsel for organizations of all sizes and from all industry sectors, Landon responds to and investigates all types of data privacy and security incidents, including ransomware attacks, business email compromises, inadvertent disclosures and other network intrusions. He works closely with various third-party incident response stakeholders, as well as his clients’ cyber insurance carrier and/or broker, to determine the most effective and efficient incident response for the victim organization. This includes mitigating the effect of the incident on the organization’s operations, as well as complying with any legal, regulatory or contractual obligations stemming from the incident, such as notification, law enforcement reporting and regulatory investigation and/or follow-up.

Landon gained valuable incident response, data privacy and information security experience as a Law Clerk with the Firm. While a Law Clerk, he worked closely with attorneys in researching various data privacy laws and regulations and with providing analysis on those and how they relate to specific cases and incidents being handled. He also assisted in responding to follow-up inquires from regulators and law enforcement on recent incident response matters, specifically related to ransomware incidents.

Landon received his J.D. from the Villanova Charles Widger School of Law. While a J.D. candidate, he was a research assistant tasked with researching and providing insights into the electronic promulgation of laws and the uses of new technology in the legal field. Landon also worked as a Student Attorney in the Clinic for Asylum, Refugee and Emigrant Services. In addition, he served as Managing Editor of Outside Articles for the Villanova Environmental Law Journal, as well as President of Villanova’s “OUTLaw,” an organization committed to providing a safe space for LGBTQ+ law students. Landon also served as a Judicial Extern to the Hon. Steven C. Tolliver in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas – Civil Division.

Prior to law school, Landon interned with ENABLE Research and Smart Dublin, focusing on smart city technology and data management in compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
