Matthew Richards is an Associate, practicing in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response practice group. After a real or suspected data privacy and security incident, Matthew works with organizations to identify, contain and investigate the incident in order to determine the nature and scope of the incident. During the investigation, Matthew counsels the victim organization on their legal, regulatory and industry-related obligations, as well as liaises with third parties such as law enforcement, regulatory bodies and other relevant business partners and stakeholders, including the victim organization’s cyber insurance carrier and/or broker (if applicable).

Before joining Mullen Coughlin, Matthew was an associate at a New Jersey-based law firm where he managed a diverse case load related to commercial disputes, consumer fraud and the purchase and sale of real estate.

As a law student at Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, Matthew was a member of the Trial Team, the Student Bar Association and a Marshall-Brennan Fellow in the Constitutional Literacy Program.
