Seth Gitman is an Associate in Mullen Coughlinโs Incident Response practice group. He serves as a Breach Coach for organizations of all sizes and across all industry group sectors to coordinate the response and investigation into data privacy and security incidents. He works closely with the victim organization and the various incident response stakeholders, such as cyber insurance carriers and brokers, digital forensic investigators, law enforcement and others, to first identify and mitigate the incident and then counsel on any legal, regulatory or contractual obligations that stem from the incident. This includes individual and business partner notification, law enforcement reporting, state and federal regulatory agency follow-up and with the provision of credit and/or identity monitoring services (if applicable). He also counsels his clients in any subsequent investigations from state, federal and industry regulators.
Before joining Mullen Coughlin, Seth, a civil engineer and project manager prior to practicing law, was an Associate at a full-service litigation law firm defending architects, engineers and construction companies in complex commercial litigation. He also analyzed contracts as part of his practice โ experience he bears when reviewing third-party business contracts and assessing any obligations with victim organizations and third-party providers. His experience in both his previous legal practice and initial career as an engineer led to his certification as a Professional Engineer in PA, NJ, DE, MD and CT, as well as a Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP).
Seth received his J.D. cum laude from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he served as Lead Research Editor for the Temple International & Comparative Law Journal and clerked for the Honorable Ramy I. Djerassi in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
