Shane Dorsey is an Associate practicing in Mullen Coughlin’s Incident Response group. As Breach Counsel, Shane provides first-party legal services to organizations after a real or suspected data privacy and security incident. Working closely with the organization’s internal incident response team (if applicable), and external consultant and vendors, Shane leads the privileged investigation into the incident to determine the nature and scope, and then counsels on any legal, regulatory or contractual obligations stemming from such incident. This includes, among others, law enforcement reporting, notification and disclosure and internal/external communications about the incident. He also responds to inquiries and follow-up questions from U.S. state, federal and industry regulators.
Before joining as an Associate, Shane was a Law Clerk in the Firm’s Incident Response practice. He gained valuable experience working closely with both Partners and Associates during various incident response matters and conducted legal research regarding the application of state and federal data privacy laws to organizations after being faced with an incident such as a ransomware attack, business email compromise or other unauthorized network intrusion.
Shane received his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Delaware. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.
