Law Firm Hacks: The Ethical and Other Implications of a Data Security Incident at Your Firm

Partner Carolyn Purwin Ryan, Vice-Chair of the American Bar Associationโ€™s (ABA) Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) and a member of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy general committee, presents at the ABA-TIPS Conference on Wednesday, May 3 in New York, NY.

The panel, โ€œLaw Firm Hacks: The Ethical and Other Implications of a Data Security Incident at Your Firm,โ€ examines cybersecurity trends, the role of cyber insurance and emerging regulatory issues as they relate to law firm data privacy and information security and related best practices. Carolyn is joined by Cheryl Napurano, AVP, Cyber Claims at Chubb, as well as other privacy lawyers, for this hour-long panel discussion. Carolyn and the panel also delve into ethics rules associated with data privacy and security incidents at law firms, including state ethics rules, Model Rule 1.6, ABA Opinion 483, ABA Opinion 477R and state ethics opinions.
